SUMMARY

Via the pull-down menu ‘File’ the file specific functions are controlled.

New ...

It is used to create different types of new files.

Via a dialog window the:

is defined.

The following file types are available:
Typ Description
Application area Area for technology pictures, lists, dialog windows and the like.
Event area Not applicable.
Figure Is a ‘partial image’ it is created as a separate picture, it may be placed in other pictures in a static or a dynamic way.
Alarm area In runtime such a picture is placed in the, as ‘Alarm Area’ defined part of the screen.
Header area In runtime such a picture is placed in the as, ‘Header’ defined part of the screen.
Menu area In runtime such a picture is placed in the as, ‘Menu Area’ defined part of the screen.

Via the button “OK” an empty picture is created, its default name “NEWxxx” is displayed in the title bar of the picture window. On leaving the editor or the first saving of the picture the user is asked to supply a name for the file.

The button “Cancel” closes the dialog window.

Open ...

Any existing files (pictures, figures etc.) may be opened.

In a dialog window all available files of the selected type are listed; multiple selection of the same type is possible.

As file type the same selection as for "New ..." is offered.

Via "OK" the selected picture is opened; its name is displayed in the title bar of the picture window. If multiple pictures were called, the last one selected is put to the foreground.
The active window – that one any actions will apply to – is marked by a colored title bar. The active window can be switched by mouse click or the shortcut "Ctrl + Tab".

The button "cancel" closes the dialog window.

Save

Save stores the active file.

Save as...

Saves the active file under a different name. (The original file remains in the state of its last saving.)

Via a dialog window the name and description is inputted; it is not possible to change the file type.

Delete...

Deletes existing files (picture, figures, condition tables, etc.)

In the opened dialog window it is defined whether ‘Displays’ or ‘Condition tables’ should be deleted.

Selecting ‘condition tables’ offers the following options:
Typ Description
Attribute condition table Defines the attribute assigned to a value or a range of values.
Figure condition table Defines the figure assigned to a value or a range of values.

Depending on the selection of the category only the relevant files are listed.
Multiple selections within the same category are possible.

The "OK" button opens another dialog window were the deletion of the file might be confirmed, declined or, on multiple selection, confirmed for ALL.

The "Cancel" button closes the dialog window.

Print...

The active picture can be printed; a Standard-WINDOWS-Dialog for selecting a printer is opened.

Print setup...

A Standard-WINDOWS-Dialog for setting up the default printer is opened.

Exit.

‘Exit’ closes the editor. On closing the editor, for any modified file not saved yet, the program asks whether the modifications should be saved.
